Traveling doesn't make you a better person
There is a trend in (mainly millennial) society that claims that traveling is the only way to answer life's questions. This essay directly challenges that notion. This essay's audience is college-aged students that are struggling to find themselves, I used this essay as a way to write for a very specific audience using slang and conversational tone throughout.
It's okay
This piece is more serious than my usual genre and it explores the pain of losing a loved one all over again every time someone learns of your loss for the first time. Branching out and writing something in a serious genre was out of my comfort zone but it helped me to see that I'm capable of writing something other than humor. The audience for this piece is informational for those who have not felt personal loss and reassuring to those who have because we all feel the same way when telling new people about the death.
Wormholes
The audience for this piece is ideally UCF students because of the direct UCF references. This piece is a personal essay was meant to challenge me to write something with deeper meaning in a concise way. That skill is beneficial when word count is specified. It was also necessary to be brief but have meaning so as to keep the audience of students' attention.
